To know how much the commentators have solved the problems of Masnavi and how much they have been successful in this way, the commentaries of Nicholson, Estelami, Zamani and Shahidi, which are among the most famous ones, have been selected and compared with the beginning of the Third Book of Masnavi. In this essay, the text of Masnavi has been investigated without any kind of interpretations and the attempts of commentators for giving the exact meaning of words and idioms and solving the problems of verses and stanzas have been studied. از قرن هشتم تا کنون بر مثنوی شرحهایی نوشته‌اند و هر کدام از شارحان بنا بر روشی خاص و پسندِ شخصی و زمانی خود، مثنوی را شرح کرده‌اند و کوشیده‌اند، پرده ‌از اسرار این منظومه ارزشمند بردارند. برای آنکه بدانیم شارحان تا چه اندازه به متن مثنوی و حل مشکلات آن اهتمام داشته‌اند و تا چه میزان در این راه توفیق؛ چهار شرح نیکلسون، استعلامی، زمانی و شهیدی را که از معروفترین شرحها هستند، برگزیده‌ایم و برای نمونه، با آغاز دفتر سوّم مثنوی تطبیق داده‌ایم. در این نوشتار، به متن مثنوی به دور از هر گونه تفسیر و تأویل نگریسته‌ایم‌ و به کوشش شارحان برای ارائه معنای دقیق واژه‌ها، اصطلاحات و باز کردن مشکلات مصرعها و بیت‌هایی توجه کرده‌ایم. https://rpll.ui.ac.ir/article_19236_851f11d03c253d18b54d788b5791f9c1.pdf
