This article investigates the manuscript Eshrat-nāmeh by ‘Ishi Shirazi. The primary source of this study is manuscript no. 1642, listed in volume three of Catalogue des manuscrits persans compiled by Blochet, which was published by the Bibliothèque nationale de France in 1928. Blochet describes the work as a short treatise consisting of ten romantic letters exchanged between two lovers, interwoven with ghazals and mystical fragments. The introduction and analysis of the work—viewed as a continuation of the dahnāmeh-writing tradition of the 14th century, the peak period of this literary genre—alongside the identification of its orthographic, linguistic, rhetorical, and thematic features, constitute the main objectives of this research. The study has been conducted using a “descriptive-analytical” method, relying on codicological approaches (editing a unique manuscript). Data were collected and analyzed through direct examination of the manuscript. The findings indicate that Eshrat-nāmeh, despite belonging to the 15th century, fully conforms to the structural framework of classical dahnāmehs of the 14th century (hexameter hazaj meter, presence of a preface, ten reciprocal letters, and an epilogue). Its simple and fluent language, adherence to normative syntax, avoidance of complex rhetorical devices, use of both Persian and Arabic vocabulary, and distinctive orthographic features are among the results of this examination. This work serves as a first-hand source for research in the genre of dahnāmeh-writing and in the stylistics of poetry, particularly in the 15th century.
