Attar Neyshabouri's Tazkirat al-Awliya is one of the mystical-literary texts that has a special place among the Persian mystical works. There is no doubt that Attar has used mystical works before himself to compile Tazkirat al-Awliya, but in quoting sayings and anecdotes from all sources, he has not acted in the same way. The intertextual comparison of Tazkirat al-Awliya with pre-Attar texts is one of the methods through which can be accessed to the main sources of Attar and also analyzed Attar's position as the author of a literary text. In this article, for a more detailed analysis, the sayings related to "Reza" are extracted from Tazkirat al-Awliya and have been compared with Kashf al-Mahjoob and the translation of Qushayriyah treatise. The main question of the research is, what are the intertextual relations of Tazkira al-Awliya with two mystical works before it? The results of the research show the intertextual relations of Reza's sayings in these three works are placed in five categories: direct intertextuality, deductive intertextuality, incremental intertextuality, multiple intertextuality, and integrated intertextuality. Most of the intertextual relations between Tazkirat al-Awliya and the translation of Qushayriyah treatise are direct intertextuality and between Tazkirat al-Awliya and Kashf al-Mahjoob are deductive intertextuality; this intertextual comparison shows that Attar has quoted the sayings in accordance with the goals he had in writing Tazkirat al-Awliya and also the characteristics of the previous texts. The removal of Arabic expressions, explanations and interpretations are the changes that Attar made in the sayings derived from Kashf al-Mahjoob, while the lexical, morphological and syntactical changes appropriate to the Persian language and the increase of imaginative and emphatic elements can be seen in the sayings taken from the translation of Qushayriyah treatise.
